Pick one of 16 superstar competitors, then leap into four game modes, using timing, tactics and skills to cause carnage behind the wheel or create havoc with your parkour skills. The recent Sony State of Play gave us a much more in-depth look at Destruction AllStars and the carnage it will bring to PS5. There are vehicle types, heroes with specific vehicles and abilities, and various game modes. At its core, it’s a vehicular combat game but the concept and mechanics are little more fleshed out than the aforementioned games. Destruction AllStars is like a blend of Destruction Derby and Twisted Metal.

My love for these games is one of the reasons I’m so excited for Destruction AllStars, one of the free games coming to PlayStation 5 as part of February’s PS Plus offerings. Another vehicular combat game, Twisted Metal was a ridiculously awesome competition in which you had to destroy the other vehicles with things like missiles, bombs and special vehicular powers.

Then there was another game you may have heard of, Twisted Metal. It wasn’t a particularly great game looking back on it, but as a kid, I absolutely loved the vehicular carnage. It was based on the sport of demolition derby players has to race and destroy other cars to score points.

Sony hasn’t said anything that implies this kind of update might be coming, but it does mean it’s not out of the realm of possibility one day.By Matthew Liebl 1 year ago Follow Tweetīack in 1995, developer Reflections Interactive and publisher Psygnosis released a game called Destruction Derby on the PlayStation. The Xbox One originally couldn’t play any Xbox 360 games before an update in 2015. That being said, that doesn’t mean that backwards compatibility can’t see some updates in the future like the Xbox One did. Unfortunately, the PS5 won’t be able to play any PlayStation games older than the PS4, which was in-line with what Sony has been saying, but that doesn’t make it any less disappointing.

Assuming you weren’t looking to play a list of ten very specific PS4 games that won’t be playable on PS5 like Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One and TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2. If there aren’t a ton of launch titles that appeal to you, there’s still your entire PlayStation 4 library that you can play on PlayStation 5. Well, short of any similarly last minute delays, that is. Third party developers are rallying around the device, as well, with games like Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition, and Godfall all coming out alongside the console.

And there are also some smaller games like Bugsnax to round things out. Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls are still around, which are pretty much considered the PS5’s headliners going into launch in two weeks. While this might be a positive for the game itself, Destruction AllStars’ delay means the PlayStation 5 is now one game short in its launch line-up.

Xbox Series X/S’ User Experience Is a Much Better Starting Point Than Xbox One’s.We want as many people as possible to experience the mayhem on PS5, and what better way to do that than to provide the game to our PlayStation Plus members?” In other news: Product Director Pete Smith essentially confirmed this is Sony and developer Lucid Games’ intention through a post on the PlayStation Blog announcing the delay, saying “ Destruction AllStars is a multiplayer game that’s at its best when you’re competing with gamers online from all around the world. Some extremely successful multiplayer games like Rocket League and current hotness Fall Guys launched as Plus games and have since gone on to see massive success, so maybe this will help Destruction AllStars in the long run.

This is a pretty smart move, as the game hadn’t been making the same splash as other launch games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and the Demon’s Souls remake, so making it free for PlayStation Plus subscribers between February and April will give it a boost it likely wouldn’t have gotten as a $70 game out the gate. However, when it does eventually come out, it will be launching as a free PlayStation Plus game for two months.

File this one to “really cutting it close,” as Destruction AllStars, one of the PlayStation 5 launch titles that would have been out in two weeks on November 12, has been delayed into February.
